Photo from Riga Pride 2005.Reykjavik Gay Pride has sent letters of protest to the Minister of Interior of Latvia and the City Council of Riga, because of the city's ban on the Riga Pride Parade next Saturday (July 22nd ).

This is the second year lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people in Riga planned to celebrate Gay Pride. The authorities in Latvia say the reason for the ban is they can not secure the safety of the people in the parade. Still the same authorities argue they can secure the safety of the leaders of the most powerful countries in the world at the NATO summit in Riga next November.

Reykjavik Gay Pride sent Valgerdur Sverrisdottir, the Foreign Minister of Iceland, and the Icelandic media a copy of it's protest.
